I received this coffee maker as a Christmas gift and couldn't be more pleased with it. I am not a "plain" coffee drinker, but love mocha's, lattes, cappuccinos, etc. Not only is this coffee maker the "stylish one", but the variety of capsules that are not "plain" coffee are perfect for my taste! I have had the chococino, Vanilla Latte Macchiato, Caramel Latte Macchiato, and Iced Cappuccino so far and once you get the correct ounce requirements for each drink figured out they taste amazing, and for the fraction of going to Caribou or Starbucks :)

There was no warning that this product was only for countries with 120 volt, we are 240 volt in New Zealand so the item was returned. If it had worked my review may have been positive. The product certainly looked impressive and should have suited me but it was not to be. To run this in a 240 volt country required a 2000 watt transformer at a cost of over $300NZD. A simple voltage reducer was not suitable due to the high wattage of the product. Amazon were fantastic in allowing the return of the product, in all the lesson I learnt cost me under $5. Cheers Amazon but a warning or a SORRY WE CANNOT SHIP THIS PRODUCT TO YOUR COUNTRY would have saved everyone allot of hassle. Sure I should have realised but I didn't. Thanks Amazon and I mean that in a positive way, your staff are great.

How It Works

NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® machines heat water, which is passed at high pressure - a maximum of 15 bars -into the coffee cup through a capsule of high-quality NESCAFÉ® roast and ground coffee. The coffee that is used in the capsules is made of premium 100% Arabica beans.

The high pressure and the capsules are designed to deliver an even distribution of water and pressure over the coffee to ensure that flavor is maximized. This system uses pressure similar to that of professional machines.

While drip coffee machines operate at one bar of pressure (normal atmospheric pressure) and a number of competing machines operate at no more than two bars, the NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® system can operate at up to 15 bars of pressure. Each capsule makes one cup of coffee in under a minute.

I am a big coffee fan but not because I "need" it in the morning, rather I enjoy the taste and drink it when reading the news.

I used to go to a coffee shop where a cappuccino was priced between $4 and 5$ and to be honest I didn't particularly enjoy it because each time it was a different worker and rarely did I feel they got it right.

I was debating the Keurig machine as it is a more established single serve coffee brand but the biggest absence is the cappuccino feature. With Keurig you can purchase cappuccino flavored pods but in my experience, every Keurig pod I had a very chemical aftertaste.

At $.90 per cappuccino the Dolce Gusto gets it right every time because the user makes the cappuccino themselves. The best part is it only consists of inserting the pod, and turning the setting to "hot" (as opposed to "cold" which is used for iced cappuccino or peach tea) and once the fluid turns translucent you turn it off and switch to the coffee... My husband and I received this as a gift. We are coffee drinkers, so this definately made our day. This coffee maker is very easy to use and easy to clean. The coffee is always piping hot. You can make a cup in about 30 seconds! I like being able to make different varieties of drinks that I couldn't do before. Instructions for making the different drinks are super easy. The coffee, hot chocolate, cappuccinos, and machiatos are all good. The cold drinks (ice cappuccino & peach tea) are wonderful. I would definatley recommend this to anyone. Before, we were ordering our pods online, but I've recently discovered that Walmart sells quite a few of the varieties.

I got this as a Christmas gift for my wife. So far we've only tried the latte macciato and the hot chocolate (cocochino) flavors but she likes both of them. The machine is easy enough to use, although an auto shut off option may be worth the extra money (the creativa model has this option). As it is you have to decide when to turn off the machine so you have that control over the strength of the coffee but its hard to get the reccommended amount. The only complaint I have is that amazon says:

"Everything you need to make a hot or cold drink is contained in our easy to use capsules, your new system come with a variety box of 16 capsules, a cappuccino cup and saucer, and a latte macchiato glass mug"

Which is partly true because I got the variety box but I didn't get the cappuccino cup, saucer or latte macciato glass mug. I didn't lower my rating since this has no effect on the coffee maker but I wouldn't have paid what I did if I knew I wouldn't be getting... Read more
